ADA SHOPPING CENTER PARKING AND ACCESS

A typical shopping center project that already had a CASp report, this design was to remove barriers to the public sidewalk as well as create accessible parking spaces. Every shopping center requires a path of travel from the public way so that all businesses are accessible, and the accessible parking spaces require a barrier free path of travel to all businesses. To achieve these requirements a new walkway from the public sidewalk was built for access to the corner pad building, and a rebuilt sidewalk with a lower slope was built from the other street. Because some existing accessible parking spaces and curb ramps were virtually impossible to make compliant in their original locations, new parking spaces and curb ramps were designed for alternate locations in order to achieve full ADA compliance.
